As we approach the end of the school year, please note the following dates and events:
EQAO testing for Grade 3 and Grade 6 students will take place in the mornings from May 23rd to June 1st. Again, please do not schedule appointments during these dates. Student attendance is important. Please let us know if there is an issue.
Climate Surveys will be available for parents to complete until the closing on May 23rd. Please go to http://bit.ly/csparent2018.
Track and Field Date: Our date for Track and Field this year is on June 5th, at The University of Windsor.
Fun Day this year will be held June 19th.
We are beginning to plan for the next school year, and would like to make you aware of the following:
Muskoka for Grade 8 students: Moving forward for next year, we anticipate our Grade 8 students will be participating in the fall session for Muskoka. The grade 7 students held a gently used book sale and raised over $800.00 for next year’s trip. More information will follow in September, 2018.
School organization: While school organization for next year is still very tentative and can change up until September 30th, we are beginning to plan for the 2018-2019 school year. At this time, we need to determine numbers of students. If your child is not returning to Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in September 2018, please contact the school as soon as possible, 519-734-1255. Although at this time, classroom composition and staffing assignments have not been determined, we are beginning to prepare for the new school year. Once again, classroom composition and teaching assignments remain subject to change until the very end of September. We trust that you will respect the process and genuine care and concern that we put forth in making decisions for all the children. We ask that you do not contact the office to make special requests. When placing students in classes, multiple factors are considered including but not limited to the following:
- academic ability
- work habits
- support for special assistance
- a balance of female/male students
We try to create balanced classes that are beneficial to all students. Once again, your support in this area is greatly appreciated.
Student Agendas: We encourage all students to purchase an agenda. While we recognize the convenience of using alternative methods of communication (blogs; Remind Apps; Google Classroom, etc.) we still encourage students to keep track of their own assignments, due dates and upcoming events. The cost for your child’s agenda remains $5.00, and you can send in the payment in September.
A special thank you to our Catholic School Advisory Council for all their work. We are truly blessed to have such a dedicated group of parents who work so hard on behalf of our students.
