Grade Four Students Create Sock Puppets

The grade four class was tasked with creating sock puppets and developing a play. They were to choose a topic based on the theme of "positive messages" derived from their religion lessons. The goal is to present the plays to the kindergarten students. All plays are to be written for the appropriate audience and presented.

Suess Day!

Suess Day at Sacred Heart School was Friday, February 19, 2016. Our staff and students celebrated with short Dr. Suess drama presentations, face painting, a character costume contest and partner reading. For over seventy-five years Dr. Seuss has been captivating the imaginations of children and adults alike. The names of his characters have become as familiar to us as those of our friends and families.  The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who and The Grinch are examples of his stories that teach us to know right from wrong.  The rhythm and rhyme in his stories instill children with the love of language. His inventive and outrageous characters engage our senses and delight with some good old fashion FUN!  The whole school enjoyed a "SEUSS"-TASTIC day!
Check out the photos below for a peak into our fun!

Kindergarten Registration Night At Sacred Heart School

We had a spectacular registration night!  The beautiful smiles on the faces of families shone brightly as they were provided tours of the school by our educator team and Grade 8 students.  Our newly enrolled Cardinals bubbled over with excitement and eagerness to play, learn and grow with their new school family.  Welcome everyone!  We are so pleased you joined us on your educational journey.

Friday was a BUSY day... Valentine's Day... 100th Day of School ...

Sacred Heart students participated in a variety of events on a very spirited Friday.  Our Loonie for License Day collected $1800 for Guatemala Hope.  Colours of red, white and pink filled our hallways and sentiments of friendship were exchanged by all.  In addition, the Gr. 1 and 2 primary students celebrated The 100th Day of School.  Many fun events such as building towers with 100 cups, decorating classrooms with 100 streamers, stringing necklace's with 100 Fruitloops and so much more created an environment filled with the delight of number sense and numeration and conversations of problem solving and creativity.
What we learn with pleasure... we will never forget.

Ash Wednesday.... As Lent begins....

A Lenten Thought . . .
We can look upon Lent as a journey.
Think about the journeys we take - long journeys that can take days, even weeks to complete.
Journeys have their ups and downs.  We don't really expect them to go smoothly.  If we are going to drive across the country, we expect a few car problems, some bad weather, some detours, some missed connections and so forth.  We prepare for those things and we deal with them as they come up.
Oftentimes, when people go along the journey of Lent, and something goes wrong (for example, they break their Lenten resolution), they cash it in and think that their Lenten observance is ruined.  But it would be a lot better to deal with the journey of Lent the way we deal with every other long and sometimes difficult journey.
I don't expect Lent to be a perfect journey.  It will have its ups and downs.  But I can make it a good journey.  I can make a good start and deal with the breakdowns and disappointments along the way.
My goal is Easter, and right now it's a long way off.  I'm ready for a long journey and I'll deal with whatever comes my way.

Please view a wonderful video to support the beginning of this time of growth to become closer to Jesus.
