Some of the Grade 7 and 8 Instrumental Music students travelled to Richmond Terrace to play some festive holiday music for the residents. Mrs. Beneteau was very proud of her students! She was very excited to recount the joy that the students shared. Spreading Christmas joy is such an important part of the holidays. Nice Work Cardinals! Please see a few photos below.

Our school community gathered for a wonderful presentation last night. Children's eye were aglow with the excitement of sharing their talents and the beautiful songs in the musical. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles beamed with pride at the beauty of our youngest students. The hallways and gymnasium were decorated with festive artwork. Appreciation is offered to our families who donated boxes of canned goods.
A special thank-you is extended to Ms. Johnson and Mrs. McConville for their dedicated efforts in the production of the beautiful story of the true meaning of Christmas.

The students of Mr. Bortolin's Grade Eight class dedicated themselves to giving in support of Movember. A giant mustache and challenge to give back was nurtured by Mr. Bortolin. The students rose to the challenge by bringing in their own money earned through birthday gifts, chores and babysitting. One student admitted she watered her grandfather's flowers all summer to earn the money she donated to charity. Houida Kassem, from the Windsor Essex Cancer Centre Foundation, accepted the cheque of $410.00. She was thrilled with the energy in the classroom and generous gift that will help to make a difference. As a thank-you for their kindness, Mr. Bortolin treated his students to a homemade pasta lunch complete with mustache cookies for dessert.

The students of 5P were required to assemble standard polyhedra and incorporate them into a display, either general or thematic. While the students were constructing the project, they were reminded about the attributes separating a prism from a pyramid and were familiarized with the naming of such polyhedra.

Pope Francis has declared that the Universal Catholic Church
will observe a Jubilee Year of Mercy from December 8, 2015, to
November 20, 2016. The pope made the declaration in front of
the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica. The Holy Door is usually
bricked up, but is opened during a Jubilee year.
WHAT IS THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY?
Jubilee years occur about every 25 years—the last occurred in 2000. These holy years
are filled with special celebrations and pilgrimages, strong calls for conversion and
repentance, and the opportunity to experience God’s grace through the sacraments,
WHERE IN SCRIPTURE DO WE LEARN ABOUT MERCY?
Jesus’ message of mercy shines all through the Gospels, challenging society and the law
to see the divine justice present in mercy. His greatest parables tell of an ungrateful
steward forgiven of his debts, who tragically fails to show the same forgiveness to
his debtors (Matthew 18:21–35); of a wasteful son who carelessly spends his father’s
inheritance, only to be embraced by his father when he penitently returns home (Luke
15:11–32). In his ministry, the Lord reached out to the hated tax collector (Luke 19:1–10)
and rescued the accused adulteress (John 8:2–11), reconciling them with society and
with God—and with themselves. This is our calling.

Each week Country 95.9/92.7 FM & Capri Pizza asks listeners to nominate a deserving classroom to receive a delicious pizza lunch to be delivered to their child's classroom.
This week Ms. Johnson's Grade 1/2 classroom at Sacred Heart Elementary School has been chose as the "Class of the Week" winner, nominated by Kathleen Beaton (Alex's mom) & several other parents.
On December 1st, the students enjoyed delicious pizza and celebrated their wonderful teacher!

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said (v.13).
I wonder what went through Joseph’s mind as the shepherds returned to their flocks. In the stillness of that night I imagine Jesus sleeping—snuggled in Mary’s arms. But did Joseph remain awake, turning events over in his mind? He had seen angelic visitations, heard the voice of God, and witnessed the miracle of a virgin birth. Then came another dream.
Protect the promise.
Screaming and wailing rang out in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16), but Joseph’s son—more accurately, God’s Son—would not be numbered among the dead. Scripture had foretold that the Messiah would prevail: “His government and its peace will never end” (Isaiah 9:7). But like every promise, the space between its utterance and fulfillment still had to be realized. To Joseph, the message was clear: “Flee, for danger is near” (Matthew 2:13).
Though he could have only imagined the magnitude of Jesus’ life, Joseph understood he had been entrusted with a promise from God (1:20-23). Far from romantic idealism and uninterrupted moments of inspiration, Joseph’s responsibility to protect the Promise in his care was fraught with danger, questions, and uncertainties.
Why then, when we’ve been given a promise from the Lord, do we think the path should be absent of any struggle? Ultimately, the fulfillment of God’s covenant to His people would come through His hand: “Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19). But we also have a part to play—just as Joseph did.
As we persevere by God’s power and provision, may we guard the precious treasure of His truth (2 Timothy 1:14) and remain steadfast. For God will fulfill His promises! (Isaiah 46:11). —Regina Franklin

The Grade 7s were completing an experiment testing the affects of adding various amounts of Epsom salt (creating hard water) on the ability of the water to create soap suds.
The students will be writing a lab report (and submitting it electronically) on the information they collected and researched.

The students were faced with a task whereby they were required to minimize the effects of impact and centrifugal force by creating an egg protector project. This project fell within the grade 5 science unit on forces on structures.

Students and Staff at Sacred Heart maintain a commitment to building friendships, loving one another and striving towards developing strong and positive communication skills. We have began two school wide projects that highlight this duty.
One Person Can Make a Difference
Teachers and students have been sending down the names and good deeds of school members that have made a difference in someone's day. Mrs.Vivier announces these names and deeds on the morning announcements. Sentiments of "I heard your name on the announcement this morning," "My sister's name was on the announcements," "That's my name!" can be heard amongst the students.
The Power of Prayer
We know that prayer is powerful! The board is open for staff and students to write prayer intentions and our Sacred Heart School Community will include these intentions in our prayers.

The CSAC received some information from our board regarding Cyberbullying.
Internet safety, social media privacy and cyberbullying has continued to be dominant issues facing parents and children today. Parents often indicate they are in need of more "how to" instructions to support their quest to protect their children from online dangers and issues that arise with social media.
